pinto

My wife and I both grew up having pets and have owned pets all of our married life. We currently live with Pinto, our Labrador Retriever, who very graciously permits us to have the run of the house.

tuffy

Our first boy was Tuffy, a haughty Lhasa Apso, who stayed with us for 13 years, and who didn't take it kindly when we brought puppy Pinto into the fold. I was an Orientation & Mobility Instructor for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and some of my training was performed at Canine Vision in Oakville. That's where I met Pinto. He was to be trained as a Guide Dog and my wife and I brought him home for his first year to socialize him prior to the commencement of his official training. Unfortunately, he was prone to weeping a green mucus from his tear ducts periodically and the trainers decided to flunk him out. So we were very fortunate to get him back. Heh,Heh,...the condition cleared up six months later and he's been fine ever since. (Update) Sadly, our beautiful boy began to fail in July of last year, to the point where his joy of life deserted him. It was painful to watch a once vibrant dog struggle to get on his feet to go outside to do his business. During his last three days, he needed our help to get back up the steps and into the house. The dreaded day had finally come when we had to make the decision to release him. We had him put to sleep on 25 July '05. He is sorely missed.

Sophie

After mourning the loss of Pinto for ten months, we were finally able to consider opening our hearts to a new dog. Meet Sophie, a six year old Yellow Lab whom we brought home on 24 May '06. She is a gentle, loving girl who loves to please.

foxy

We adopted Foxy, a little spoodle, from our neighbour who was emmigrating to Ireland. Foxy would have had to remain in a crate for six months before she would be permitted to enter the country and our friends didn't want to put her through that as she was already a senior dog. She was a joy and she stayed with us for 5 years.
We take comfort that Pinto will have friends to greet him as he joins both little Foxy and Tuffy at the Rainbow Bridge.
